HISTORY What is the objective of your school with regards to Internationalization?
The prime objective is to open our student's minds to the wider world by providing them with guided international contact, exchanging ideas, experiences and interests with people of their own age from different countries and cultures. We want students to use the English language that they are learning as an instrument to learn other things, whether connected to their programme of studies or not and paying special attention to the students' interests.
Our students are between the ages of 12 and 16. They study English at all ages and also French as an optional subject. We are open to any offers as regard exchange programmes, but think it more sensible to participate in electronic exchanges next school year with the idea of completing them with physical exchange(s) the following year. We are also prepared to welcome teachers from other countries to spend time at our school, maybe collaborating with our Bilingual Section (English) to cooperate in classes of History, Geography, Music P.E. or Technology.
In May 2009 we will be finishing our current Comenius Project 'Seas of Europe' and so we will also be available to participate in any new projects under the Comenius umbrella.
POSSIBLE THEMES Themes which explore our similarities and differences - to help our students understand each others' backgrounds:
History - local/regional/national (especially Modern History)
Socio-cultural - national and local customs, Food, Music, Religions, young people' s habits and interests.
Geography - the Environment, Biodiversity, flora and fauna.
